So, the Maruti Suzuki showcased its first-ever flex-fuel prototype car in Delhi. Well, being touted as India’s first mass segment flex-fuel vehicle, the budget hatchback was revealed by the Hon’ble Minister of Road Transport & Highways, Shri Nitin Gadkari. Following the launch of the Maruti Suzuki Wagon R flex-fuel, the company promised to launch this segment somewhere in 2025 in the Indian market. However, whether the brand is going all-electric or not is yet to be confirmed because keeping an eye on the current scenario of Maruti Suzuki, saying this will not be a bad thing that the brand is still gripping the market with its fueled engines in the Indian market and trying all its best to keep the legacy continue.
Maruti Suzuki Wagon R Flex-Fuel Varient
However, in the terms of design, you will not see any changes because the pictures are showing the previously launched Wagon R, but as it is a flex fuel variant, therefore, it would get some configurations in the engine. According to the reports, the BS6-compatible Wagon R flex fuel is designed and developed locally in the nation with support from Suzuki Motor Corporation, Japan. The new variant will run on any ethanol-petrol blend between 20 percent (E20) and 85 percent (E85) fuel.
The great part about the trim is, it is specially designed and configurated to meet the requirement of higher ethanol-blended petrol. It has been equipped with new fuel system technologies like an ethanol sensor for ethanol percentage detection and a heated fuel rail for cold start assistance. Mr. Hisashi Takeuchi, Managing Director & CEO, of Maruti Suzuki India Limited, in his statement, said, “Maruti Suzuki has been working consistently to reduce the country’s oil import burden and improve the environment. As the concept is designed and developed locally in the nation with support from SMC, Japan. The new Wagon R Flex Fuel prototype vehicle emboldens the Government of India’s ‘Make in India’ efforts”.
Maruti Suzuki Upcoming Projects
Simultaneously, he also said that some configurations will be done in the car, where components like an engine management system, upgraded fuel pump, and a fuel injector, among others, have been developed along with the upgradation of other mechanical elements. As in the market, people are waiting for Maruti to bring an EV, so on this, Mr. Hisashi Takeuchi, said “We are working on several technologies that have been introduced in the market, and people will get to see one out of all, be the end of March 2023.
