Triumph Motorcycles has launched the Speed Twin 900. Yet Confused?

It is basically the Street Twin, Triumph’s top-selling fresh classic motorcycle in India, but with a new name, which is ‘Speed Twin 900’. Prices for the new Speed Twin 900 start at Rs 8.35 lakhs for the primary Jet Black colour and Rs 8.48 lakhs for Matt Silver Ice and Matt Ironstone colour option. Buyers can personalize the motorcycle by adding up accessories as their needs. Bookings for the new Speed Twin 900 have begun, and deliveries are more likely to begin soon. 

The Speed Twin 900’s design ties back to old Bonnies of the 1960’s stripped-back custom classic style with modern bits like knee indents, twin upswept silencers and engine fins, and modern Triumph’s design updates, including a stylish thick bench seat with 765mm height. The side panels have been redesigned, and the Aluminum headlight brackets and the throttle body finish are new too.

The Speed Twin 900 gets the same 900 cc Liquid-cooled, eight valves, SOHC, 270° crack angle parallel twin from HT Bonneville with a maximum performance of 64.1 bhp at 7,500 rpm and peak torque of 80Nm at 3,800 rpm. The power is sent to the back wheel via a five-speed transmission with a torque-assist clutch for easier gearshifts. 

The Speed Twin 900 was built on a tubular steel-twin cradle frame with cast Aluminum alloy wheels. The bike also gets 41mm cartridge forks at the front and Twin RSUs with preload adjustments suspension at the back. The Speed Twin 900 is equipped with 310mm Brembo 4 piston axial brakes at the start. 

The bike has a tank capacity of 12 litres and a whole body weight of 216 kg, delivering fuel efficiency of 28.9 kmpl. The Speed Twin 900 gets an analogue speedometer with an LCD multi-functional display featuring an adjustable throttle map, Road and Rain riding modes, ABS settings, and traction settings. In terms of convenience, you may get an under-seat USB charger and an immobiliser that is hidden inside the key.
