Ola to develop 6 electric cars across 2 platforms in 2024

For a while now, we had known that Ola would be delivering some big announcements on August 15 concerning its plans for the rising Indian EV segment. Aside from re-launching the standard Ola S1 scooter, the carmaker also revealed new details regarding its upcoming first electric car and production facility. 

Ola electric has revealed the details of its upcoming production facility for its four-wheelers which would be developed alongside its existing scooter factory. The new 200 acres facility will be coming up alongside a new 100 acres battery cell manufacturing facility and would see the roll-out of as many as 6 new cars based on two dedicated platforms. The company had shown in previous teasers revealed the front and back styling elements of numerous models. The most recent August 15 presentation shows a sleek coupe-like design and confirms some specifications. 

The carmaker has confirmed that the firm’s first electric car would have a drag coefficient of under 0.21, with the teaser video revealing a svelte four-door coupe design. Other elements visible from previous teasers revealed a full-length light bar at the front and back, along with illuminates logos. The company also confirmed a sub 4 second 0-100kmph time and a range of over 500km charge for the EV. 

The company also confirmed that the EV would get an all-glass roof and a door handle-less design. Ola Electric also revealed some of the techs that would be on offer with the car to run a version of the company’s MoveOS software and support over-the-air updates as their current scooters. Ola also confirmed that the electric car would come with assisted driving capabilities- ADAS functions- though the company did not go into further details. 

The new device car will debut in the Indian market by 2024, though, in the meanwhile, we could expect Ola Electric to drop more details on the vehicle in the build-up towards its reveal.
