Mahindra Scorpio Classic Breaks the cover to Launch Now

A few more months after announcing that the older generation of the popular SUV from Mahindra, the Scorpio, will continue to be on sale in the market along with the Scorpio-N, the manufacturer has taken the wraps off the Scorpio Classic. The car will go on sale on August 20, 2022, and will come in 2 variants; the base classic and the more feature-loaded Classic S 11.

It is ultimately a new face on the Scorpio Classic. Mahindra’s new twin peaks logo finds a place on the redesigned grille, while the front bumpers are also new. That is not all; the SUV gets a revised set of LED projector headlamps, new fog lamps, and DRLs. View in profile, and you will see the redesigned 17-inch wheels, while the new dual-tone look of the classic makes the Scorpio looks more premium than earlier. On the back, the signature Tower LED tail lamps to find a place on the rear after more than a decade. The side-facing rear door also gets a standard badging on the SUV.

The cabin gets its share of changes though it is nowhere close to the feature-rich cabin of the Scorpio-N. a highlight is the new and more giant 9-inch touchscreen which is responsive and transparent. The new dual-tone black and beige theme replaces the dark theme seen on the car earlier. You get a leatherette-wrapped steering wheel and audio controls, though most of these features are only offered in the higher Classic S11 variants. You may also get a part digital, part analog instrument cluster apart from a height-adjustable driver seat. The 2nd row gets the alternative of captain seats and a bench seat; though, the previous is only available on the higher Classic S11. On the 3rd row, you can choose between a front-facing bench seat and 2 or 4 side-facing seats, which may sadly come without seatbelts.

The car gets the new Gen 2 mHawk 2.2 Liter Diesel engine that makes 300Nm and 128bhp. The engine is mated to a six-speed manual program. There is no Petrol, Auto, or 4×4 versions on offer. Mahindra is claiming to have enhanced the NVH levels on the car and is also promising a better ride quality.
