Here is another electric SUV coming into the country. Well, you read it right, Toyota’s Innova which comes under a luxury MPV, is all set once again to roll out on road in its new avatar. However, we have seen Innova in petrol and diesel but do you know? that company is likely to launch Innova in the electric segment to grip the Indian market which is now stepping towards electric vehicles.
Although the brand recently rolled out its latest Toyota Innova Hycross on roads and just ahead of its launch, speculations are rife that soon there would be an electric MPV under the same moniker.
Well, the brand recently, launched Innova as Innova Kejing Zenix in Indonesia, and in India, it is expected that the brand will name it Innova Hycross. Now, the latest reports, are saying that Toyota is perhaps investing in EVs. The rumors of an EV by Toyota caught fire when a picture got leaked online where Innova Crysta electric concept prototype compares its ICE-powered trim with a closed-off grille at the front and blue accents. Ahead of the launching of Innova Kejing Zenix in Indonesia, the brand also introduced its all-electric Innova concept prototype at Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS) in Jakarta.

According to online reports and tipsters, the going all-electric concept prototype is going to be a good example of Toyota electrifying its extant ICE conveyances along the way. The electric concept by Toyota caught fire when some pictures of Innova Crysta electric went viral on the internet where the car is seen getting tested on roads. The news caught more hype when Anton Jimmi Suwandy, marketing director, of Toyota Astra Motor, Indonesia, in his statement said that “Kijang Innova Electric will not go on sale right away because the concept is only built for the purpose of engineering development only. Ahead of his statement, Suwandy also said that the Innova EV concept is being used for research and development of future EVs that are being readied for the region”.
After a brief statement by Anton Jimmi Suwandy, the Vice President Director at Toyota Astra Motor Indonesia, Henry Tanoto also confirmed the same news telling everyone that Crysta electric is made just to have a deep study on the future of electric cars. Other reports have also confirmed that if everything that Toyota is trying to bring out gets checked then saying this won’t be bad buyers can expect fully electrification or even hybridization of workhorses like SUVs and pickup trucks from the Japanese giant in the future. Already in North American markets, GM, Ford, and even Rivian are delivering electric vehicles that are based on ladder-frame chassis.
